Petraeus: No Military Solution to Iraq War

US General David Petraeus, commander of US and coalition forces in Iraq made this key point in a press conference held in Iraq today. IraqSlogger posts the video.
Gosh, I forgot to add my commentary: Duh!

BTW, to keep you up-to-date on the use of our military as cannon fodder:US Military Fatalities in Iraq as of 3/08/07: 3188

The numbers just keep growing and its as if everyone is just waiting for the next "milestone moment" to remember them. We need to be focused on keeping the next milestones from every occuring, not waiting for them quietly and patiently, so someone can THEN say something.

So now Petraeus has said it - they need to be talking to the militants. It was not too long ago when Petraeus' CIC was degrading anyone he could for saying we should "talk to the terrorists."

Hard to sell the crediblity and honesty of any commitment to non-force resolutions when they have been so thoroughly ridiculed by your superior command. But I'll pray that he can make it work.

Research I would like to see: who were dissenting voices along the way among the generals to Bush's stupid policies, strategies, and tactics, and what happened to them?
