9 -Year-Old Canadian Citizen released from American Detention Center

Kevin YourdKhani a Candian citizen, with his Iranian-born parents, was flown to Toronto last night after spending six weeks in a privately run west Texas immigration jail. This story got virtually no attention in the mainstream media. I guess they don't like to report on the US government locking up innocent children while the father of Anna Nicole's child is still unknown. Amy Goodman's Democracy Now! First brought this travesty to light and follows up with the family's Canadian attorney.

Hi hope, thanks for pointing this out.

You know, maybe I have ADHD, but I CANNOT figure out what is this family's story.

How can he be a canadian citizen (that means he was born in Canada) and his parents be on their way to seek asylum?

Did you figure this out?

When I first heard about this, I was quite upset, because I couldn't understand why americans will be detaining Iranian-Canadians. But apparently they are not.

You know, a couple of months ago, Royal Bank of Canada stopped opening US$ accounts for Canadians of Iranian origin!!!!!

The neoconservatives/Zionists in Canada are far more dangerous than American ones!

Naj...From what I understand Kevin's parent's were employed in Canada when he was born, so he is a Canndian citizen. He and his parents were detained while on their way to Canada to seek political asylum. Iranian immigration officials came on to the plane, detained the family, later turning them over to the Americans. The whole thing is sickening and in some ways reminds me of the Maher Arar incident. The bush gov't is populated with criminals. I cannot wait for the house of cards to tumble.

Kevin Yourdkhani, his father Majid and his mother Masomeh had been on their way to seek asylum in Canada, when their plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Puerto Rico.

Detained on an emergency landing? You've got to be f-ing kidding me.

Theory: the Canadians asked the US to hold them until the bruises faded from the Iran torture, so they could deny asylum a second time. Would've worked except for the public outrage. Romember a conservative government is now in power in Canada.
