Radio Diversity? Not

Think Progress has this post on the latest developments with the FCC and the mega-conglomerate desire to own ALL the radio stations in America which of course, are broadcast on the PUBLICLY OWNED AIRWAVES. Then check the "Think Fast" post.

I think we need a revolt. They are public airwaves and if the FCC and media conglomerates will not respect the social compact that gave them exclusivity or some frequencies, then the contract's been breached.

Breached is such an understatment. Between the telecom act under Clinton, the fairness doctrine's exit under Reagan and the large media companies buyout of virtually all the stations in the country, we are left with the pure shit of the 'mainstream media' as it is today. All Fox Noise, all the time.

Thanks for your comment Mary.

I am so afraid that we have already past the tipping point in the Republican/oligarchs dismantling of our democracy. Our next president will almost certainly be a co-opted Democrat and not be enough to stem the tide.

Even worse, the stations aren't even owned by people, just corporate entities, and few of them at that.
