All that's missing is the political will

Full Text of The 35 Articles of Impeachment of George W. Bush

This is an extraordinary document in it's accuracy, acumen, breadth, scope and the time in which it took to compile, so undeserved by the criminal Bush. We can only hope with our emails and calls, we create enough pressure on congress to take action. It would be insult on misery to let the criminal BushCo off the hook for the sake of political expediency and a Democratic 'sweep' in the fall election. That kind of cowardice cannot go unpunished as it is all politics and no principles. If Kucinich's historic documenting of blatant crimes backed up by large volumes of evidence serves only as a congressional 'catch and release' program, let there be a new revolution in America. Bring on the pitchforks.

It's encouraging to know someone in power has been watching and keeping score.

So Recorded...A Moment of Truth

Let it be known The Honorable Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio), has thrown down the gauntlet. Tonight, (Tuesday) the Clerk of the House is expected to read the 35 articles of impeachment against the president into the record,(I watched most of it last night, but it's worth tuning into again...) at the conclusion of which, Rep. Kucinich will make a motion. Watch C-Span! Below find the list of charges which will be detailed in full at tonight's reading by the clerk.

Also, Rep. Robert Wexler is the first to cosponsor and will be on Keith Olbermann tonight.

CALL THE MEDIA! And call or email Kucinich and Wexler and give 'em a high five. Then, email Your Congress Member - Congress has 72 hours to table it, send it to committee, pass it, or reject it.

Wherefore Motherfucker

On C-SPAN now...Dennis Kucinich (yea!) is currently reading his 35 articles of impeachment against George W. Bush. Dennis has put together ALL of monkeyboy's known crimes, including the "secret laws" section which is a tell-all regarding NATIONAL SECURITY PRESIDENTIAL DIRECTIVE/NSPD 51. I will link the transcript as soon as it is available. And of course, the MSM is missing in action.

I love Dennis Kucinich.

UPDATE: Still very little word from the MSM. One would think Articles of Impeachment against the President might make the news, but sadly, no. I did find some good info on KOS, with mention of Misprison of Felony which makes me giddy as a schoolgirl. The most significant thing about Dennis' 4 hour reading is how he has detailed and fact-checked all of his charges. He gives example after example detailing what Bush did and when he did it. Give the KOS post a look and I will post transcript when available.

Double Standards at the New York Times

Dave Lindorff's This Can't Be Happening! posts some truth about the Grey Lady:
The New York Times, which claims to draw a clear distinction between its news articles and its commentary articles, dropped any pretense of such a distinction in its minimalist "coverage" of yesterday's dramatic effort by Rep. Dennis Kucinich to force the House to consider the impeachment of Vice President Dick Cheney.

In a small 230-word piece on Kucinich's privilege motion, and the subsequent vote to send his H Res. 333, now called H. Res. 799, to the House Judiciary Committee, after it has been consigned to limbo for over 6 months by the House leadership, the Times succeeded in dissing both Kucinich and the notion of impeaching the vice president.

As the anonymous Times reporter wrote in the lead of this hit piece:

"It is hard to know which effort has longer odds, the bid by Representative Dennis J. Kucinich, Democrat of Ohio, to become president of the United State, or his bid to unseat Vice President Dick Cheney by impeaching him".

Over the First Impeachment Hurdle-UPDATE

Dennis Kucinich's H.Res 333 "Articles of Impeachment Against Vice President Richard B. Cheney." Has cleared the first obstacle to becoming. Next it goes to the house judiciary committee.

After Downing Street has a live blog of the attempt to kill the bill. Impeach Cheney Now! Read the Dennis Kucinich essay on why Cheney should be impeached, contact the members of the house judiciary committee. Here are the current members who will be voting on whether it will go up to the full house for an up or down vote.

The painful truth about today's vote is more republicans voted to send this resolution to committee than democrats. Call your rep and tell them you want them to vote to impeach Cheney.

UPDATE: Okay...my take on the sudden change of heart by the rethuglicans in voting to send this resolution into committee: David Swanson's live blog of the vote opines,
"No doubt the Republicans want to get the Dem leaders on tape on the floor defending Cheney against impeachment."
Or could it be that impeachment has been off the table because the Dems are afraid the truth will come out about their complicity in the very crimes Cheney is accused of. If an investigation gets underway into Cheney's role in lying us into war, the Dems collusion will begin to show. Their constant whining, "we didn't know" will be exposed. The back room deals will come to light. The utter spinelessness of the Dems, repeatedly complained about by the American public, will suddenly make sense.

I believe the mask of connivance is slipping as demonstrated by Dianne Feinstein's vote for Mukasey. Her vote is part of the price she's paying to her master the BushCo war-mongering, war services industry which directly benefits her war-profiteering husband Richard Blum, a 75% partner in Perini Corporation. Perini is a construction company that has received nearly a billion dollars in Iraq reconstruction funds.

There are a number of theories running around the blogosphere, from The GOP is trying to embarrass the Dems, to a thug trick that backfired on them. I'm sticking to my guns. I think this is the reason dems have been so weak since they took the house.

Whatever the case, I hope the truth comes out, for the very survival of our country.

I gave my opinion to Mike Malloy and WaPo, for what it's worth.

Impeachment is On The Table

Tomorrow (Tuesday, November 6)Congressman Dennis Kucinich has called for a "privileged resolution" on Dick Cheney's impeachment. If not now when? This has gone on long enough. Call [(202) 224-3121]AND email your Representative. Let then know you have had enough and encourage them to support and vote yes on Dennis Kuchinich's brave move, H. Res 333. If your rep. is among the 21 co-sponsors, let them know you are pleased with their decision to start the process of holding this administration accountable for the evils perpetrated upon our country and the world at large. 54% of Americans now agree that Cheney should be impeached. Please don't let this opportunity go by to make your opinion count.

Call your member of Congress toll free:
1-800-828-0498
1-800-862-5530
1-800-833-6354

ALSO TONIGHT: Dennis Kucinich will be on the phone, Monday, November 5 5:30 MT
4:30 PT. 6:30 CT 7:30 ET. If you want to listen, call (641)715-3300 The access number is: 324341# This is a one-way call with no restriction on the number who are on the line to listen. Please get everybody together and put it on a speaker phone!

House Resolution 333, Articles of Impeachment against the Vice President, has 21 cosponsors. They are: Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), Robert Brady (D-PA), Yvette Clarke (D-NY), Rep. William Lacy Clay (D-MO), Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN), Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), Rep. Sam Farr (D-CA), Rep. Bob Filner (D-CA), Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-TX), Rep. Henry Johnson (D-GA), Rep. One more request: Please call Kucinich's office and show him a little love for having the balls to make a showing.

Kucinich Goes All In

From the Office of Congressman Dennis Kucinich:

WASHINGTON, D.C. (November 2, 2007) — Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) announced today that he will be offering a privileged resolution on the House floor next week that will bring articles of impeachment against the Vice President, Richard B. Cheney.

“The momentum is building for impeachment,” Kucinich said. “Millions of citizens across the nation are demanding Congress rein in the Vice President’s abuse of power.

“Despite this groundswell of opposition to the unconstitutional conduct of office, Vice President Cheney continues to violate the U.S. Constitution by insisting the power of the executive branch is supreme.

Old News to New Ears

While most have certainly seen or heard Keith Olbermann's Special Comment making the best argument of why BushCo should resign, I heard it only now. If you haven't, do so now. If you have listen again. Try to influence others to listen. Drag them away from the noisebox of infotainment and make them listen.

I accuse you, Mr. Bush, of lying this country into war.

I accuse you of fabricating in the minds of your own people, a false implied link between Saddam Hussein and 9/11.

I accuse you of firing the generals who told you that the plans for Iraq were disastrously insufficient.

I accuse you of causing in Iraq the needless deaths of 3,586 of our brothers and sons, and sisters and daughters, and friends and neighbors.

I accuse you of subverting the Constitution, not in some misguided but sincerely-motivated struggle to combat terrorists, but to stifle dissent.

I accuse you of fomenting fear among your own people, of creating the very terror you claim to have fought.

I accuse you of exploiting that unreasoning fear, the natural fear of your own people who just want to live their lives in peace, as a political tool to slander your critics and libel your opponents.

I accuse you of handing part of this Republic over to a Vice President who is without conscience, and letting him run roughshod over it.

And I accuse you now, Mr. Bush, of giving, through that Vice President, carte blanche to Mr. Libby, to help defame Ambassador Joseph Wilson by any means necessary, to lie to Grand Juries and Special Counsel and before a court, in order to protect the mechanisms and particulars of that defamation, with your guarantee that Libby would never see prison, and, in so doing, as Ambassador Wilson himself phrased it here last night, of becoming an accessory to the obstruction of justice.

Impeachment Pie, best served piping hot

And boy, am I hot. The Honorable Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) has filed Articles of Impeachment against Dick Cheney, and not a moment too soon. He made the announcement of his intetions yesterday.

This story got exactly NO PLAY on mainstream media, not even Olbermann's show (in his defense, Allison Stewart is subbing for him this week). The buzz is, because impeachment is a long and involved procedure, by the time it comes to fruition, the point becomes moot. Horse feathers.

The weight of scandal as a result of negligence, malfeasance and criminal enterprise by this administration will ultimately bring it down. It will take actions like this by the Democrats and about 1000 more investigations, but it will happen. The only caveat: The American People. If we do not support and demand further action from our representatives, they get the idea that we don't give a shit and/or are too stupid to care.

Ohio newspaper, The Chronicle -Telegram writes this about Congressman Kucinich's bold move:
WASHINGTON — Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich filed articles of impeachment Tuesday against Vice President Dick Cheney, saying his action is driven by a desire to defend Americans’ right “to have a government that is honest and peaceful.”
The Ohio congressman said Cheney manipulated and fabricated intelligence on weapons of mass destruction to justify the Iraq war.
Kucinich said it was important to introduce the legislation “because the threat of war against Iran is very real.”
“This vice president cannot be permitted to continue to violate both the U.S. Constitution and the U.N. Charter,” he added. [snip] Kucinich had said earlier Tuesday that he was planning to postpone his plans to introduce the articles of impeachment due to Cheney’s health concerns. Cheney was taken to his doctor’s office for an ultrasound of a blood clot in his leg Tuesday. He later returned to the White House to resume his normal schedule, said Megan McGinn, a spokeswoman for the vice president.
Not said in the article was Rep. Kuchinich filed later in the day after Darth Cheney resumed his "normal schedule" of calling Democrats traitors and telling the American people to go fuck themselves.

Today WaPo's Dana Millbank, the cocktail-wienie-eating kiss-ass reporter smirks outwardly while narrating about the futility of Kuchinich's effort. Dennis addresses his rationale for impeachment in the only video of the news conference I could find. Wolf Blitzer takes Dennis on in The Situation Room and gives a bit of honest context and the serious weight this resoultion deserves.

Now, go call your representative to encourage them to go forward with H Res.333 impeachment proceedings and then go give a little love to Dennis Kuchinich for his bravery. It will take the pressure of the American conscience to raise the backbone of spineless politicians in this effort. Please throw your weight into the mix.

Impeachment Pie Anyone?

WaPo's The Sleuth column by Mary Ann Akers, is posting the story,

"Articles of Impeachment To Be Filed On Cheney"
Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio), the most liberal of the Democratic presidential candidates in the primary field, declared in a letter sent to his Democratic House colleagues this morning that he plans to file articles of impeachment against Vice President Dick Cheney.

The Impeachment Blues UPDATE

I keep trying to remember the tune for "The Impeachment Blues" but it keeps getting away from me. Right on the tip of my tongue, then gone like impeachment being taken off the table. Raw Story has posted "Op-ed: Impeachment threat is real" by David Edwards and Ron Brynaert. I'm hoping people will start hearing the tune and singing it everywhere they go until it hits #1.

Impeach Gonzo

Read Robert Kuttner's "Gonzales Should Be Impeached".
Gonzales, the nation's highest legal officer, has been point man for serial assaults against the rule of law, most recently in the crude attempt to politicize criminal prosecutions. Obstruction of a prosecution is a felony, even when committed by the attorney general.

Colbert Calls the Democrats "Pussies"

Colbert Report says what we've all been thinking. Crooks and Liars has the video evidence.

The Culture of Obedience

Rocky Anderson the maverick Salt Lake City, Utah mayor has become the most outspoken critic of Junior and calls for impeachment. The clarion call from the seemingly most unlikely of states, Utah, known for its 'red state creditials,' comes as a welcome for many. NYT has the story.
“President Bush is a war criminal,” Mr. Anderson, a Democrat, said at a rally here on Monday marking the fourth anniversary of the war in Iraq. “Let impeachment be the first step toward national reconciliation — and toward penance for the outrages committed in our nation’s name.”

The "Accidental" President

Gerald Ford and Alexander Haig took a walk in the Rosegarden of the White House in the summer of 1974. Haig told Ford that Nixon would be "willing to resign" if there was a full pardon for him on the other side. All this nonsense about "sparing the country" from the turmoil of an American President on trial for "high crimes and misdemeanors" and "ending the long national nightmare" is bullshit. This was yet another deal forged by the GOP to continue to decieve the American people and continue the Nixonian imperial power-grab for the executive branch.

After his 'installation' as president, Gerald Ford went on to not only pardon Nixon and keep the People from knowing the depth and breadth of crimes committed by the Administration, but he also covertly okayed the invasion of East Timor by the Suharto regime who then murdered up to a million Timorese. Ninety percent of the weapons and armaments used were provided by the US government. This information was supressed by the Ford administration and ignored by the mainstream media. This arming of the overtly authoritarian Suharto regime was also expressly against US law at the time. Weapons sold to others could not be used for aggressive purposes, which the hostile invasion of East Timor was and could be considered an "impeachable offense". It's also no accident that the warmongers of today's administration are the same smarmy bastards of Ford's day--Cheney and Rumsfeld.

If I have to listen to anothor white-wash of how "decent and full of integrity" Gerald Ford was, I'm gonna puke. He was just another tool in the long line of power-mad dictators-in-waiting and idiots who are undermining our Democracy. Jon Swift says this of Ford,"...what some see as Ford's decency may actually have been evidence of moral laxity."

How much of this did you know? I guessing not much because until 2002 the information was supressed under "national security" which has just become another way to say "cover your ass". I guess the people want to 'stay out of politics' because it is too painful to know the truth that our government is not a force for good but a tool for destruction and evil when in the hands of what is in most cases, the GOP. Nobody wants to know that the USA is not any different from the rest of the world and its history of tyrants. The truth hurts.
