Concern Over Country’s Direction at Highest Level Ever Recorded

NYT reports the findings of the latest poll--81% think the country is going in the wrong direction. Way to go Dubya.
Although the public mood has been darkening since the early days of the war in Iraq, it has taken a new turn for the worse in the last few months, as the economy has seemed to slip into recession. There is now nearly a national consensus that the country faces significant problems.
What clued you in America? The wasteful, horrific war? The loss of our civil rights and freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution? Oh, it took getting hit in the pocketbook, of course. I notice BushCo seems to be doing jus'fine.

I find it very difficult to read this blog. The problem is I agree with everything you post. The public perception of our great country is getting gloomier by the day. My bride and I are presently developing our off grid, green homestead after working and raising our family. Some things I actively think about now that I would not have even considered 5 years ago. Like a secure perimeter, a large lockable food storage unit, and enough fuel to be able to function if it comes to that.

What should be the most memorable time in our lives has started to feel more and more like survival tactics.

Dearest Slip,

I feel the same presence of 'impending doom.' It's as if a a national 'anxiety attack' has taken hold of the country. The very reason I write this blog is to vent and hopefully reach out to like-minded individuals in a effort to rekindle what I believe is "the true American spirit." one of innovation, responsibiltiy and yes, revolutionary thought. The very principles we were raised to believe in.

I have very few answers but lots of hope and the willingness to protect and fight for what is right. I'm looking toward the future and laying in a supply of torches and pitchforks. I applaud your efforts to "live off the grid" and wish you and your bride the best. Thanks for coming by, you're welcome anytime.
