I'm beginning to think that another rule of thumb I should adopt is that whenever a politician waves a letter around supporting his position that is supposedly signed by hundreds or thousands of "experts", that I should consider it fraudulent until someone checks the list of names.

A few years ago, Sen. Inhofe's communications director came up with such a letter, supposedly signed by thousands of climate scientists who didn't believe there was such a thing as global warming. It turned out that most of the people on the list weren't scientists at all, and of the few who were, almost none were climatologists.

The lengths these people go to in order to get and keep power honestly still surprises me. It's good to see you and are you on facebook? Since i've been in school(!)I'm there most because of its ease of use and social networking stuff. Lots of FDL folks and old friends. Email if your're on fb...
