Letter from a Marine
Broadway Carl has a link to the young Marine's letter that was read on Mike Malloy's show a few nights back, posted at his place. So very worth your time.
The commander in chief needs the US military to be a dependable tool that s/he can wield at will wherever s/he sees fit to deploy it. The apoliticality of the military has been an important component to the stability of our form of government - the fact that they report to the office of the president and not to the person of the president. When the sentiments expressed by this marine become widespread, that is a big problem not only for our military but for the nation. Add this to the long list of items that require Congress's immediate attention. Good thing they've instituted a 5 day workweek.
