In 20004, on April 20th, Junior Bush stood in front of television cameras and apparently unawares of concept of videotape, (scroll down to 'wiretap') made this statement:
"Now, by the way, anytime you hear the government talking about wiretap, it requires--a wiretap requires a court-order. Nothing has changed, by the way. [ ]In the words of the ACLU, "Why did we bother to debate the Patriot Act if Bush could make up his own rules about spying on U.S. citizens?" I would add, and then lie about it...
It's important for our fellow citizens to understand when you think Patriot Act, Constitution guarantees are in place. When it comes to doing what is necessary to protect ourfatherlandhomeland because we value the constitution."
Truthdig's Marie Cocco brings us the USA-scandal-meets-Watergate and some of the implications.
The most shocking thing to me about this debacle in its entirety, is not the blatant corruption, or even the total disrespect for the law by these criminals, that is to be expected with this gang-that-couldn't-shoot-straight. What rouses my ire is the fluffing-over it gets from the mainstream media, which should really be called, to borrow from a great blog with real news, crooks and liars--corporate style. All I can say is let the impeachment games begin!!
Update 10:45 PM: Still no mention of Comey's testimony on ABC or CBS, imagine that.
Paris Hilton is going to jail. It's completely understandable that there wouldn't be time to cover trivia like the destruction of the very foundation of our government.
ReplyDeleteBedside-burgling. Numba one nice frame. Talent, you have.
ReplyDelete"The most shocking thing to me about this debacle in its entirety.. ..is the fluffing-over it gets from the mainstream media."
ReplyDeleteMy sentiments exactly. How did I put it at Les Enragés? Oh yeah, It's as if they had reported the Hindenberg explosion as "some of the passengers' luggage went missing."
The media are doing such a bad job of presenting the real story, they are becoming the real story. History will look back on them as either utterly incompetent or as traitors to their profession AND their country. The neologism PRESS-titute comes to mind.
BTW Hope - I 'tagged' you with a Thinking Blogger's Award, which as far as I can tell is not an award at all, at least there doesn't seem to be any nomination or voting process. The point seems to be mainly to generate some links, boost everybody's technorati profiles a bit, and make the smarter bloggers come out ahead of the rest on search engines.
ReplyDeleteMy post about this, delayed almost a month by procrastination, discusses as well the anti-intellectual tactics that Republicans have been using against their opponents since at least the races in 1952 and 1956 between Eisenhower and Adlai Stevenson. It can be found HERE.
